I decided I am sick of winter. Eating out has not been a big priority since the snow started falling a few months ago. Cooking up some great soups has been though. White chicken chili was last night. It was delicious.

The other day I was talking to a guy who worked at the Viewmont Mall, and the topic quickly turned to food. I always ask where somebody lives, and where they go to eat. It turned out he was from my favorite area. We talked about Andy Gavin’s, Nina’s, Nicholas Pizza and ended at Zaleski’s Clubhouse in South side. Truly each place has a following. Gavin’s is preparing for a big St. Patrick’s day and the staff was ready. These places are my staple food. Throw in Neen’s in North Scranton for breakfast and I am a happy man. I love all of those places, you will see the owner working. Try that at any of the big box chains.

I have not been to any new eateries in almost two months. My favorites see me weekly. But do I need to tell you that Nicholas Pizza has the best chicken wing pizza? If you have had it you would know! It’s the same every time! No surprises! I hate when places change stuff just out of the blue. I don’t want new and improved! I love having the same waitress every time! You develop a relationship over time. My favorite waitresses I know by name. When I come in for a meal it’s nice to see them

Now it’s spring and its time to get out and eat some great food! Let me know if there is a spot you would like me to try. I hear there are a couple new places downtown and a few new spots in South side. Keep our local Mom and Pop places open! Support your neighborhood restaurant this weekend! They make the food, donate to your little league and will learn your name! Enjoy your food!
